Email advertising, powered by LiveIntent, allows you to advertise within the newsletters of premium publishers like Biz Journals, Bon Appetit, CNET, Country Living, AdWeek, Deadspin, and Fodor’s to reach this opted-in and highly engaged users.

LiveIntent needs to approve the advertiser account before you can fully use this feature. Reach out to your account manager or the Support Center if you’re interested in leveraging LiveIntent, and they’ll work with you to obtain access.

What Is Email Advertising

With programmatic advertising in email newsletters, you can reach highly engaged people, and buy display and native ads just like you do on the web, only with much higher standards.

As for how the tactic itself works, a user needs to subscribe, confirm their subscription, log in to their email, and then open the email and click to enable images for the LiveIntent pixel to fire and the user to see the ad. The triple opt-in ensures complete transparency and fraud-free ads.

How to Set Up Email Advertising in Choozle

Email Advertising can be made as an ad group within a larger campaign.

1. Email Advertising inventory and LiveIntent need to approve the advertiser account before you can fully use this feature. Reach out to your account manager or support center if you’re interested in leveraging LiveIntent, and they’ll work with you to obtain access.
2.  Once your advertiser account is enabled, navigate to the Campaigns tool to create a new ad group leveraging LiveIntent. Create a new Campaign or add a New Ad Group to an existing campaign.
3. Select an ad format.  Since you are targeting inventory in email boxes, you'll want to select Static Display creatives. Within this ad format, you can upload PNG, JPEGS, and GIFS. LiveIntent does not accept doesn't accept third-party, video, audio, or native creative formats.
4. Select a Geolocation. Geolocation is a required component of all campaigns within Choozle and is set at the ad group level. All countries, states/provinces/regions, and cities/DMAs are available directly within the Choozle platform. For more granular targeting, postal code lists can be created and uploaded into the platform for any country that has a uniform postal code system.
5. Define your targeting parameters. If you add more targeting tactics to your LiveIntent-specific ad group, the reach and performance can be impacted.
6. If you wish to bid exclusively on specific newsletters, you can leverage site targeting. This can be done by creating a site list based on the Sample List of Publishers (available below), but you should not include any HTTP or www protocols. It is important to note that the Publishers might have slightly different URLs than their website that are used exclusively for their email newsletters. To confirm the URLs, you can subscribe to the email newsletter you are looking to target and find the "View in Browser" hyperlink to determine the URL that is used to host their email newsletter program.
7. Within the advanced settings, you'll want to enable two options. 
   1. You will want to enable your frequency settings to use "Unlimited Frequency". Since LiveIntent only serves one to three ads per email (around 60-70% of which are above the fold), Unlimited Frequency will allow you to scale your reach every time there is an available bid that meets your requirements. 
      
      
      
8. Define your ad group settings, goals, budget, and bids. 
9. Upload your creative assets. Choose from existing static display creatives living in your Creative Asset Library.
10. Save ad group.

NOTE: You can select specific LiveIntent PMP deals in the Deal Explorer. While not required to run on LiveIntent inventory, LiveIntent partner deals can be used to assure that you are exclusively bidding on the specifics of that deal within the email newsletter inventory. If you wish to explore the option of first-party deals that would allow you to define category or publisher, please reach out to our team to set this up.  For third-party or first-party PMP deals, you do not need also to turn on the Live Intent toggle as shown in step 7 above.
